You went from being a general interior designer to a flooring specialist. Was that painful and did it make sense?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

I’ve been an interior designer since 1988 and the decision to specialise in flooring about two or three years ago was a difficult one. But I am not too strict about it – I still do walls and windows when the opportunity arises. However, specialising in one area does pay off. I’ve looked at what makes up the bulk of my work and how much effort it takes to keep the other parts of my business going. I now save myself the effort of those other areas by concentrating on flooring. This gives me more time. At the same time, there is a wide range of floors that we can offer and do very well. It makes sense to specialise because customers have very high demands in terms of workflow, advice, and quality of workmanship.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Customers are quickly overwhelmed by too much choice. I prefer to find out their exact ideas and requirements in advance and then show them a small, tailored selection. This is more helpful than giving them the full range of options and overwhelming them. I get eight or nine bookings out of ten because I sell through my advice and my personality.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Du hast dich vom allgemeinen Raumausstatter zum Fu\u00dfbodenfachmann spezialisiert. War das schmerzhaft und war es sinnvoll?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Ich bin seit 1988 Raumausstatter und die Entscheidung zur Spezialisierung auf Fu\u00dfb\u00f6den vor rund zwei, drei Jahren war hart. Aber ich ziehe sie auch nicht ganz konsequent durch, sondern k\u00fcmmere mich bei Bedarf nach wie vor auch noch um W\u00e4nde und Fenster. Die Spezialisierung auf einen Bereich zahlt sich allerdings aus. Ich habe mir angeschaut, was den gr\u00f6\u00dften Teil meiner Arbeit ausmacht und wieviel Aufwand es erfordert, die anderen Bereiche meines Gesch\u00e4fts am Laufen zu halten. Den Aufwand f\u00fcr diese anderen Bereiche spare ich mir jetzt, indem ich mich ganz auf Fu\u00dfb\u00f6den konzentriere. So habe ich mehr Zeit \u00fcbrig. Gleichzeitig gibt es eine gro\u00dfe Bandbreite an B\u00f6den, die wir anbieten und die wir auch sehr gut k\u00f6nnen. Bei den sehr hohen Kundenanforderungen, die von Abwicklung und Beratung bis zur Qualit\u00e4t der Arbeit reicht, macht eine Spezialisierung Sinn.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Kunden sind von einer zu gro\u00dfen Auswahl schnell \u00fcberfordert. Ich bevorzuge es, im Vorfeld die Vorstellungen und Anforderungen des Kunden genau zu erfragen und ihm dann eine kleine, auf ihn zugeschnittene Auswahl zu pr\u00e4sentieren. Das ist hilfreicher, als wenn ich ihm die ganze Bandbreite aller M\u00f6glichkeiten zeige und ihn damit \u00fcberfordere. Von zehn Auftr\u00e4gen bekomme ich acht oder neun, weil ich \u00fcber meine Beratung und meine Pers\u00f6nlichkeit verkaufe.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
