Stories we tell about ourselves<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

How do we define success? And are we giving it our own definition, or do we let others define it for us? What story do we tell about ourselves? And are we dreaming big or do we let others limit our dreams, and what we dare to expect?<\/p>

There are so many opinions and voices that can restrict us and that don`t serve us at all. For example: \u201cSuccessful people are those who make a lot of money or who have fame.\u201d If we have neither money nor fame, we might fall into the trap of thinking that we are not successful. But wait for a second: Is this definition matching our own standards of success at all?<\/p>

And what kind of story do we tell about ourselves in general?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Choose your story well<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

After the past two weeks, I could be telling, that I have failed a lot and that I`m unsuccessful. But honestly what would be the point of a story like this? It would not only be depressing; it also would not serve me at all.<\/p>

We have one life, so why not tell a good story about it! So, instead I say: \u201cI have taken some bold steps lately. At the same time, I`ve gained a good deal of experience with criticism both fair and unfair, even some unfriendliness. Either way, I`ve learned a lot. Most of all, I haven`t let anything cause me to abandon my dreams and I keep dreaming big. I expect great opportunities and adventures coming my way because I trust God to have a good plan for me.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A friend of mine said to me that her co-worker has warned her: \u201cIn our job, we have to be very flexible.\u201d There are so many ideas and opinions about how we SHOULD be. But especially as creatives I think we don`t have to accept the boundaries of common opinions. If we work to our own heart’s content, not for the judgment of others, we work with the heart of an artist. And we can accomplish a lot and more, if we just never lose faith, tell our story favourably, and define success in a way that sustains us and doesn`t discourage us.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Geschichten, die wir \u00fcber uns erz\u00e4hlen<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Was ist Erfolg? Legen wir f\u00fcr uns selbst fest, was Erfolg f\u00fcr uns bedeutet, oder lassen wir uns das von anderen vorgeben? Was f\u00fcr eine Geschichte erz\u00e4hlen wir von uns? Und haben wir gro\u00dfe Tr\u00e4ume, oder lassen wir uns von anderen Grenzen setzen, in dem was wir uns zutrauen?<\/p>

Es gibt so viele Meinungen und Stimmen, die uns einschr\u00e4nken k\u00f6nnen und die uns \u00fcberhaupt nicht n\u00fctzlich sind. Zum Beispiel: \u201eErfolgreiche Leute verdienen viel Geld und sind angesehen und bekannt.\u201c Wenn wir aber weder Geld haben noch besonders anerkannt sind? Dann k\u00f6nnten wir in die Falle tappen zu denken wir seien nicht erfolgreich. Aber warte mal: Passt diese Art von \u201eErfolg\u201c denn \u00fcberhaupt zu unseren eigenen Ma\u00dfst\u00e4ben?<\/p>

Und was f\u00fcr eine Geschichte erz\u00e4hlen wir \u00fcberhaupt von uns?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Nach den letzten beiden Wochen k\u00f6nnte ich erz\u00e4hlen, dass ich oft gescheitert bin und dass ich keinen Erfolg habe. Aber ehrlich, was w\u00fcrde denn so eine Geschichte bringen? Es w\u00e4re nicht nur eine deprimierende Geschichte, sie w\u00fcrde mir auch nichts n\u00fctzen.<\/p>

Wir haben ein Leben, also warum sollten wir nicht gute Geschichten davon erz\u00e4hlen! Also sage ich stattdessen: \u201eIch habe in letzter Zeit ziemlich viel gewagt. Gleichzeitig habe ich Erfahrungen mit Kritik – fairer und unfairer Kritik \u2013 und sogar Unfreundlichkeiten gesammelt. So oder so habe ich viel gelernt. Vor allem habe ich mich nicht daran hindern lassen, weiterhin gro\u00dfe Tr\u00e4ume zu haben. Ich erwarte tolle Gelegenheiten und Abenteuer, weil ich darauf vertraue, dass Gott einen guten Plan f\u00fcr mich hat.\u201c<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Eine Freundin sagte mir neulich, dass ihre Kollegin sie ermahnt hat:\u00a0 “In unserem Job m\u00fcssen wir besonders flexibel sein.\u201c Es gibt so viele Vorstellungen davon, wie wir sein SOLLTEN. Aber vor allem als Kreative brauchen wir uns doch nicht mit den Grenzen gew\u00f6hnlicher Meinungen abfinden. Wenn wir zu unserer eigenen Freude arbeiten und nicht f\u00fcr das Urteil anderer, dann arbeiten wir mit dem Herz eines K\u00fcnstlers. Und wir k\u00f6nnen viel und noch mehr erreichen, wenn wir nie aufh\u00f6ren zu glauben, unsere Geschichte vorteilhaft erz\u00e4hlen und Erfolg so definieren, dass es uns nicht entmutigt sondern st\u00e4rkt.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
