Festival Attitude

Festival Attitude

So that was Glastonbury the legendary festival in Somerset. Arriving there is a bit like in a fantasy film: The flying hero passes miles and miles of woodland or jungle or whatever emptiness, and all of a sudden a new world (for example some kingdom of a white witch) opens up in front of him. In the middle of nowhere rises a massive town of tents and a town centre of stalls and music stages for five days.

There’s plenty of music and big stars live on stage, which is great. But there’s much more to it: Wherever you look there s love to detail. Even the bins are painted in bright colours. People are smiley and friendly. Everyone is out to make the world – or at least this little part of world – a peaceful happy-place and puts its visitors in a fairytale-mood of no worries.  People are painting their faces and beards with glitter, sticking feathers and flowers in their hair and dress up in shiny colours.

Have love for details

This year Labour politician Jeremy Corbyn was one of the rock stars on stage –  talking about his vision of a more social society. “Leave no trace” teach the festival organizers regarding the amount of rubbish left behind after such a massive event. Be responsible and think of the environment around you. Have love to detail. “Understand the power we’ve got, to achieve that decent, better society, where everyone matters”, says Corbyn. It starts with the little things like walking to the bin with that empty cup. Or smile and be friendly. Taking a bit of the festival spirit in our everyday lives could make each day a bit more fairytale-like.

Festival Attitude
