Bruno Genovese is a London-based business mentor who teaches entrepreneurs how to run a successful business while finding inner peace.
When you look at your customers, what are the most common persistent problems that keep them stumbling?
Two common problems I see are problems I have gone through myself on my journey.
One is the feeling of being lost or not seeing a vision for the future. I firmly believe that when you discover God’s vision for your life, everything becomes clear and more exciting. This is the first step.
The second common problem is for those who have that vision and alignment with what God has for them, but they are struggling. That is what I call going through the desert or a period of disruption. When God sets a vision there is often a time of disruption, suffering, sacrifice and often silence – you feel that God is not speaking to you. This journey through the desert is one of preparation and maturation. God removes many things in your life to make room for the new. The idea is to transform this suffering and silence into clarity about the next steps. And then to create the capacity for them. Often, we are busy with administrative and low value tasks that make up 80 per cent of our business and we need to create space and capacity to focus on the important 20 per cent – your unique calling – then you are able to move forward.
What’s fascinating is that pursuing a 10X vision is often easier than aiming for incremental 2X growth. When you think about 10X growth, it forces you to focus solely on what truly matters – your unique calling – while 2X thinking keeps you stuck trying to do everything just a little better.
The third step would be to meet people and create connections and collaborations. Once you have gone through that desert, that is what I call the awakening: things start to fall into place, and you start to make progress towards your vision.

There is a lot of business advice out there, and of course it is all about putting that advice into practice - what, in your experience, creates lasting change?
For me, lasting change comes from an ongoing relationship with God. We need to create space on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to really connect with God. And the second task is to create the capacity, the space, to focus on our calling. Often people want to do everything themselves instead of focusing on what is most important, which is our unique calling. What I’ve discovered is that when you aim for exponential growth – what I call 10X thinking – it actually simplifies your business because there are fewer paths available to reach those breakthrough goals.
We need to create space by finding systems and people to support us or by removing things altogether in order to focus on our unique calling. When you do that, things start to flow.
What are some habits or routines that you recommend for aligning your business with what God is teaching us?
Creating space to connect on a daily basis. My first hour of the day is sacred, it is my time for meditation, reflection and planning. I have been very intentional with this time to connect with God and also with my vision and the day ahead. This way, I am in a good place to start.
Secondly, it`s creating space to create on a weekly basis. I often block out time in my diary just for creation. About four or five hours two or three times a week to do non-urgent, important things: reading, producing content, planning for the next stage, writing. The rest of my time is spent serving – serving my clients, selling, mentoring. Of course, sometimes things come up and I have to be flexible, but at least the basic structure of the week is there.
On a monthly basis I take three days – in addition to the weekends – to completely recharge my body and mind and do nothing, have quiet time, family time or holidays. I deliberately do not work and let go. Having this system or routine gives me a lot of freedom.

What would you say is the most transformative insight you teach?
Most transformative is what I call the awakening after creating a vision. Making it happen through and with God. I have been there a few times. The period of desert is so challenging but it also prepares you for what comes next. It forces you to connect with God a lot more, and also with your calling. All it is is preparation, cleaning the space by taking things away from you, it deepens your faith and strengthens your mindset.
If you could choose one step that someone could take to become less stressed and more at peace in their business, what step would they take?
In the past I felt overwhelmed and stressed, anxious, wanting to control everything and work hard. The more anxious and stressed I became, the more work God gave me until the day I decided to surrender and really decide to seek God first. I was a Christian from an early age, but my faith was superficial and not deep. When I finally took the time to seek the Lord, when I surrendered my life to Him and all my worries and plans and sought His peace, things changed. Instead of Him being my co-pilot, I became His co-pilot. If you seek His peace, He gives it to you, but you have to seek it.
Personally, I go to my bathroom, close the door, get down on my knees, and pray. It is as simple as that. This can be one minute or twenty minutes. I just say: I am here, I need peace, and I need guidance. Another thing I often do is I close both my fists very tightly and I think of all my problems and then I slowly let go and open up and say I give them to you God, they are yours. I do these two things at least once a day, sometimes more than once a day. If there is a big problem and I am really stressed, I find a place where I can get down on my knees and pray – and when you get up you can really feel the peace immediately. Everyone can find their own practice and routine of course.

Do you personally make New Year's resolutions and if so, what are yours for 2025?
I have a vision to serve many more people than I do today, both in their businesses and in their lives – I want to serve hundreds and thousands and tens of thousands of business leaders around the world. I am asking the Lord to work with me and through me. But while I have this big vision, I am equally excited about taking one small step at a time, living with grace and being thankful for where I am today.

Bruno Genovese ist Business-Mentor in London. Er coacht Unternehmer darin, wie sie ein erfolgreiches Unternehmen führen und gleichzeitig inneren Frieden finden können.
Wenn du dir deine Kunden anschaust, was sind die häufigsten Probleme, die sie immer wieder stolpern lassen?
Zwei häufige Probleme, die ich sehe, sind welche, die ich selbst durchlebt habe.
Das eine ist das Gefühl, verloren zu sein oder keine Vision für die Zukunft zu haben. Ich glaube fest daran, dass alles klarer und spannender wird, wenn man Gottes Vision für sein Leben entdeckt. Das ist der erste Schritt.
Das zweite häufige Problem betrifft diejenigen, die diese Vision haben, aber nicht weiterkommen. Das nenne ich eine Wüstenzeit. Wenn Gott eine Vision gibt, dann folgt oft eine Zeit des Umbruchs, des Leidens und oft auch des Schweigens – man hat das Gefühl, dass Gott nicht zu einem spricht. Diese Reise durch die Wüste ist eine Zeit der Vorbereitung. Gott beseitigt viele Dinge in unserem Leben, um Platz für Neues zu schaffen. Es geht darum, dieses Leiden und Schweigen in Klarheit über die nächsten Schritte zu verwandeln. Und dann den Raum zu schaffen, diese Schritte zu gehen. Oft sind wir mit administrativen und geringwertigen Aufgaben beschäftigt, die 80 Prozent unseres Geschäfts ausmachen, und wir müssen Raum und Kapazität schaffen, um uns auf die wichtigen 20 Prozent zu konzentrieren – unsere einzigartige Berufung – dann können wir vorwärts gehen.
Das Faszinierende ist, dass es oft einfacher ist, eine 10-fache Vision zu verfolgen als ein 2-faches Wachstum anzustreben. Wenn du über 10-faches Wachstum nachdenkst, bist du gezwungen, dich ausschließlich auf das zu konzentrieren, was wirklich wichtig ist – deine einzigartige Berufung -, während du mit dem 2-fachen Denken in dem Versuch stecken bleibst, alles nur ein bisschen besser zu machen.
Der dritte Schritt wäre, Menschen zu treffen und Verbindungen und Kooperationen zu schaffen. Wenn man diese Wüste durchquert hat, kommt das, was ich das Erwachen nenne: Die Dinge fangen an, sich zu fügen, und man beginnt, seiner Vision näher zu kommen.

Es gibt viele Ratschläge für Unternehmer und natürlich kommt vor allem auf die Umsetzung an. Was führt deiner Erfahrung nach zu dauerhaften Veränderungen?
Für mich entsteht dauerhafte Veränderung durch eine kontinuierliche Beziehung zu Gott. Wir müssen täglich, wöchentlich und monatlich Raum schaffen, um wirklich mit Gott in Verbindung zu treten. Und die zweite Aufgabe besteht darin, uns auf unsere Berufung zu konzentrieren. Oft wollen wir alles selbst machen, anstatt uns auf das Wichtigste zu konzentrieren, nämlich auf unsere einzigartige Berufung. Ich habe festgestellt, dass das Streben nach exponentiellem Wachstum – ich nenne es 10-faches Denken – unser Business vereinfacht, weil weniger Wege zur Verfügung stehen, um diese bahnbrechenden Ziele zu erreichen.
Wir müssen Raum schaffen, indem wir Systeme und Menschen finden, die uns unterstützen, oder indem wir Dinge ganz weglassen, um uns auf unsere einzigartige Berufung zu konzentrieren. Wenn wir das tun, beginnen die Dinge zu fließen.
Welche Gewohnheiten oder Routinen empfiehlst du, um ein Unternehmen mit dem in Einklang zu bringen, was Gott für uns möchte?
Raum schaffen, um täglich mit Gott verbunden zu sein. In der ersten Stunde meines Tages nehme ich mir Zeit für Meditation, Nachdenken und Planung. Ich nutze diese Zeit sehr bewusst, um mit Gott in Verbindung zu treten und auch mit meiner Vision und dem vor mir liegenden Tag. Auf diese Weise bin ich in einer guten Ausgangsposition.
Zweitens: wöchentlich Raum für Kreativität schaffen. In meinem Terminplaner blocke ich dafür Zeit, etwa vier oder fünf Stunden zwei- oder dreimal pro Woche. In dieser Zeit arbeite ich an der Kategorie der nicht dringenden, wichtigen Dinge: lesen, Content produzieren, die nächste Phase planen, schreiben. Die restliche Zeit verbringe ich damit, meinen Kunden zu helfen. Natürlich kommen manchmal Dinge dazwischen, und ich muss flexibel sein, aber zumindest die Grundstruktur der Woche ist so vorhanden.
Jeden Monat nehme ich mir – zusätzlich zu den Wochenenden – drei Tage, um meinen Körper und meinen Geist komplett aufzuladen und nichts zu tun: Zeit für Ruhe, Familie oder Urlaub. Ich arbeite bewusst nicht und lasse los. Diese Routine gibt mir sehr viel Freiheit.

Was ist deiner Einschätzung nach die wichtigste Einsicht, die du an deine Kunden weitergibst?
Die größte Veränderung ist das, was ich das Erwachen nach dem Definieren einer Vision nenne, die wir mit und durch Gott realisieren. Das habe ich schon ein paar Mal selbst erlebt. Die Zeit der Wüste ist eine große Herausforderung, aber sie bereitet einen auch auf das vor, was danach kommt. Sie zwingt dich, viel enger mit Gott verbunden zu sein und auch mit deiner Berufung. Außerdem schafft diese Phase neuen Raum, indem sie Dinge aus deinem Leben eliminiert und gleichzeitig den Glauben vertieft und das Mindset stärkt.
Wenn du zu einem Schritt raten könntest, den jemand tun könnte, um weniger gestresst zu sein und mehr Ruhe in seinem Business zu haben, welchen Schritt würdest du empfehlen?
In der Vergangenheit fühlte ich mich überwältigt, gestresst und verängstigt. Ich wollte alles kontrollieren und dachte nur ans Arbeiten. Je ängstlicher und gestresster ich wurde, desto mehr Arbeit gab mir Gott. Bis zu dem Tag, an dem ich beschloss, zu kapitulieren, alles Gott abzugeben und ihn zu suchen. Ich bin seit meiner Kindheit Christ, aber mein Glaube war oberflächlich und nicht tief. Als ich mir endlich die Zeit nahm, den Herrn zu suchen, als ich ihm mein Leben mit all meinen Sorgen und Plänen überließ und seinen Frieden suchte, änderte sich alles. Anstatt dass er mein Co-Pilot war, wurde ich sein Co-Pilot. Wenn du seinen Frieden suchst, schenkt er ihn dir, aber du musst ihn suchen.
Persönlich gehe ich in mein Badezimmer, schließe die Tür, gehe auf die Knie und bete. So einfach ist das. Das kann eine Minute oder zwanzig Minuten dauern. Ich sage einfach: Gott, ich bin hier, ich brauche Frieden und ich brauche Führung. Eine andere Sache, die ich oft mache: ich schließe meine beiden Fäuste ganz fest und denke an all meine Probleme. Dann lasse ich langsam los, öffne meine Hände und sage: Ich gebe alles dir, Gott. Ich mache diese beiden Dinge mindestens einmal am Tag, manchmal auch mehrmals am Tag. Wenn es ein großes Problem gibt und ich gestresst bin, suche ich mir einen Ort, an dem ich mich hinknien und beten kann – und wenn man dann aufsteht, spürt man wirklich sofort den Frieden. Jeder kann natürlich seine eigene Routine finden.

Nimmst du dir für das neue Jahr etwas vor und wenn ja, was sind deine Vorsätze für 2025?
Ich habe die Vision, noch viel mehr Menschen als heute zu helfen, sowohl in ihrem Unternehmen als auch in ihrem Leben – ich möchte hunderten, tausenden, zehntausenden von Unternehmern auf der ganzen Welt helfen. Ich bitte den Herrn, mit mir und durch mich zu arbeiten. Aber während ich diese große Vision habe, freue ich mich genauso darauf, einen kleinen Schritt nach dem anderen zu machen, in Gottes Gnade zu leben und dankbar dafür zu sein, wo ich heute bin.
