One morning I was so reminded of a song that I used to like: „The slap of the paper The hiss of the sprinkler The beep of the coffee machine…“ It’s called „Valley Morning“ by Loudon Wainwright III and in fact it’s not well known but I find it very beautiful- look it up if you want a song to just relax and be. It’s about L.A. though, not Berlin. I came across the album where that song is on when I was working for the university radio station. It seems like a lifetime ago.
It’s quite nice to rediscover or remember songs that were part of a certain stretch of life isn’t it?

Eines Morgens wurde ich so an ein Lied erinnert, das ich früher gerne gehört hab: „The slap of the paper The hiss of the sprinkler The beep of the coffee machine…“ Es heißt „Valley Morning“ von Loudon Wainwright III und ist tatsächlich nicht sehr bekannt, aber ich finde es sehr schön – hör es dir an, wenn du ein Lied zum Entspannen und einfach nur zum Dasitzen suchst. Es handelt allerdings von L.A., nicht von Berlin. Ich bin auf das Album gestoßen, auf dem dieser Song ist, als ich für das Uniradio gearbeitet habe. Das scheint ein ganzes Leben her zu sein.
Immer schön, Songs wiederzuentdecken oder sich an sie zu erinnern, die Teil eines bestimmten Lebensabschnitts waren, oder?
