Action Storytelling Photography
Authentic Brand Photos
Always nice to photograph: A band rehearsal. Especially when there are serious 90s vibes, fabulous music, and fabulous musicians.
If you look through my portfolio or my latest updates from shoots around London or Southern Germany, you’ll notice that my days are usually filled with brand imagery, lifestyle headshots, and corporate editorial stories. Stepping into a gritty, music-filled room to document the band Elektrokowski practicing in their band room in Reutlingen isn’t my everyday routine. In fact, it’s a beautiful exception—but it is the perfect playground for action storytelling photography.
The secret / How to overcome camera shyness
But as I was framing up shots through the haze of amplifiers and nostalgic 90s energy, I thought about just how much this raw setup teaches us about commercial photography.
There is a powerful secret hidden in the chaos of a rehearsal room: it`s one that completely solves the biggest challenge business owners face when they step in front of the lens: camera shyness.

The “Magic Formula” is this: People are best to photograph when they do what they love
The energy in a band rehearsal is electric, not because everyone is posing perfectly for the camera, but because the musicians have completely forgotten the camera is even there. They are entirely immersed in their craft, tuning dials, sharing glances, and reacting to the music.
This is the ultimate truth of lifestyle and commercial people photography: People look their absolute best when they are doing what they love.
Passion leads to connection
True passion results in natural movement and authentic moments and this ensures a genuine emotionally charged human connection.
When someone is deeply engaged in their element their self-consciousness often evaporates. And this is regardless of whether they are a musician of a band in Reutlingen, an artisan crafting a product in an East London studio, or a tech founder presenting an idea in a boardroom in Metzingen. The stiff “photo face” disappears, replaced by an unmistakable aura of competence, passion, and ease.
Translating the stage to the brand: Action storytelling in corporate photography
When businesses in Stuttgart, Reutlingen, or London reach out to me for branding photography, a common worry always surfaces: “I’m just not good on camera. I don’t know what to do with my hands.”
No worries! Apart from the fact that I`ll tell you how to stand, sit or pose (that`s my job, so lean back and relax), we don`t need to take photos of you standing there staring at a lens anyway. We can and should build an action story.
Action Storytelling Photography: Authentic Brand Photos
Action Storytelling means capturing you in motion, engaged in the actual rhythm of your workday. It shifts the focus from how you look to what you do. And this simultaneously makes you look better without having to worry about or put focus on it.
By bringing the exact same documentary approach I used in this 90s-vibe band rehearsal into commercial brand photography, we change the rules of corporate imagery:
Storytelling for the Camera-Shy Professional
Instead of forced, static corporate headshots, we capture you actively collaborating, brainstorming, or working with your tools. Your brain focuses on your expertise, and your posture naturally relaxes.
Storytelling for the Viewer & Potential Client
When a viewer looks at an image of a professional completely immersed in their zone of genius, it creates an immediate, subconscious connection of trust and authenticity.
Why Authenticity Beats Perfection in Modern Branding
Whether I’m working with creative brands in the UK or corporate businesses in Germany, the global market shift is undeniable. Audiences are tired of hyper-polished, sterile stock photos. They want truth, personality, a touch of that unfiltered character that made 90s editorial photography so legendary.
Documenting a team’s process behind the scenes gives your audience a visual backstage pass to your company culture. It communicates value, passion, and reliability far better than a standard, flawless corporate smile ever could.
Planning a Lifestyle Branding Session in London/ the UK or Germany?
Whether you are based in the creative hubs of London or looking for a commercial lifestyle photographer in Metzingen, Tübingen, or Stuttgart, my goal is always to make your visual story feel as effortless and evergreen as a classic vinyl record. You don’t need to be an expert model to have outstanding photos! You just need to bring your passion, and I will handle the storytelling.
Let's create something authentic together.
Let’s connect for an editorial branding shoot around Stuttgart, Reutlingen, Metzingen and the rest of Germany. Or let’s map out a dynamic lifestyle photography session across London or the rest of the UK.
