Two Questions for Andreas Macht, Copywriter in Reutlingen-Lichtenstein

I was going to write about the two questions I asked Andreas Macht for this post. He visited my studio in Metzingen the other day. But events have come thick and fast:

I got one of the nicest and best-written feedbacks ever from Andreas. It has to be said: he knows how to do it, because he is a copywriter. So that’s what I’m posting now.

Here's his little piece of written art about his visit to my studio:

“At first I didn’t want to do this!

But then I realised how nice it is to be photographed in a studio.

Somehow it is all about feeling good.

If you don’t feel good, you want to leave.

Don’t you feel the same way?

When I was a child and teenager, there were family photos!

A horror.

I just didn’t want to be photographed. I’d rather go away.

But I still didn’t resist when Dad took another crooked photo with the Polaroid on Christmas Eve. Like every year.

By the time Dad pressed the button, I was exhausted. Because it felt like we had to stay calm for as long as soldiers standing in a guard line.

At least the photo was blurred…

(Thank you, Dad, for simply not being a photographer, even though you sold us kids back then that a Polaroid makes anyone a photographer. We believed you!)

I told Nadine that I still don’t think I’m photogenic.

But Nadine wouldn`t have that.

And I mean she’s right when she says:

“You are alive. Be happy about a nice picture of yourself!”

Wow! What a statement. Straight to the heart.

That sentence has caught me completely today.

“But Nadine! How did you get started in photography?”

Well, as with many people, it all started very differently. Until Nadine realised that she wanted to pursue a career that revolved around people, everything went in a different direction.

But:

You can study fashion design and work for Wolfgang Joop.

You can be a passionate journalist and live in London and still never master the English language in such a way that it sounds like the way people really speak.

You can be successful at all of this.

And still have a longing.

For a job that is so close to people that it becomes almost intimate. A profession that immortalises emotions.

A job that takes place where there`s a spark.

Nadine has achieved this.

She is a professional business and lifestyle photographer and journalist.

She photographed me in such a way that I could fall in love with myself…

The photo sparks when you look at it.

I’ve never experienced that before!

Nadine will do the same for you!

HOW beautifully worded is that please!!! Only an exceptional writer can do that. Ok, now that this has been celebrated, you can still read the two questions I asked Adreas. A typical one these days: about AI. And one about (yes, it`s still a thing in my world) pen and paper.

Andreas, as a copywriter, do you see AI as a threat or an opportunity?

For me, AI is an asset because it is a mechanical component that helps me generate ideas. A sparring partner in my thought processes. But as a machine without emotions, AI can’t replace a good copywriter because the human element doesn’t come through. That remains the advantage of us humans: The stories of the little things that connect us socially – that’s where the energy flows. AI also means more speed, I can get projects done faster.

What is your writing workflow? - Do you type directly on your laptop or do you perhaps make handwritten notes first? How do you go about it?

It’s a mixture. I do most of it on my laptop. And I use the notes app on my iPhone, which is connected to my Mac Book. If I want to jot down a spontaneous thought and don’t have my mobile phone or laptop to hand, then I fall back on paper. I like to print out good ideas and stick them on the wall. That way they stay in sight. Regular walks in the countryside are also essential and part of my workflow.

Zwei Fragen an Andreas Macht, Copywriter aus Reutlingen-Lichtenstein

Eigentlich wollte ich in diesem Post über die zwei Fragen schreiben, die ich Andreas Macht gestellt habe, als er mich im Atelier besucht hat. Aber die Ereignisse haben sich überstürzt:

Ich habe eines der schönsten und bestgeschriebensten (ist das ein Wort!?) Feedbacks ever von Andreas bekommen. Man muss dazu sagen: Er weiß ja wie`s geht, denn er ist ja Copywriter. So poste ich nun also erstmal das. Hier ist nun also Andreas` kleines Stück geschriebene Kunst über seinen Besuch bei mir im Atelier:

„Ich wollte das erst gar nicht!

Aber dann habe ich gemerkt, wie schön es ist in einem Fotoatelier fotografiert zu werden.

Irgendwie geht’s doch bei allem immer ums Wohlfühlen.

Wo du dich nicht wohl fühlst, willst du am liebsten weg.

Geht’s dir nicht auch so?

Bei mir waren das als Kind und Jugendlicher Familienfotos!
Ein Graus.

Ich wollte einfach nicht fotografiert werden. Lieber weg.

Hab mich trotzdem nicht gewehrt, wenn Papa wieder mit der Polaroid an Heilig Abend ein schiefes Foto geschossen hat. Wie jedes Jahr.
Bis Papa auf den Knopf gedrückt hat, war ich schon erschöpft. Weil wir gefühlt so lange ruhig bleiben mussten wie Soldaten beim Spalier stehen.

Wenigstens war das Foto unscharf…
(Danke Papa, dass du einfach kein Fotograf bist, auch wenn du uns Kindern damals verkaufst hast, dass ne Polaroid jeden zum Fotograf macht. Wir haben’s dir geglaubt!)

Ich habe Nadine gesagt, dass ich mich immer noch nicht fotogen finde.

Aber mit sowas kann ich Nadine gar nicht kommen.
Und sie hat ja recht:

“Du lebst, freu dich doch auf ein schönes Foto von dir!”

Wow! Was für ein Satz. Mitten ins Herz.
Der Satz hat mich heute komplett gefangen.

„Aber, Nadine! Wie hat das eigentlich bei dir angefangen mit dem Fotografieren?“

Nun, wie bei vielen Menschen hat alles erst ganz anders angefangen. Bis Nadine gespürt hat, dass sie einen Beruf machen will, der sich um den Menschen dreht, lief alles zunächst in eine andere Richtung.

Aber:
Du kannst Modedesign studieren und bei Wolfgang Joop arbeiten.

Du kannst eine Herzblut-Journalistin sein und in London leben und trotzdem nie die englische Sprache so beherrschen, dass es auch so klingt, wie die Menschen wirklich sprechen.

Du kannst bei all dem erfolgreich sein.

Und trotzdem Sehnsucht haben.
Nach einem Beruf, der so nah am Menschen ist, dass es fast schon intim wird. Ein Beruf, der Emotionen verewigt.
Ein Beruf, der dort ist, wo es knistert.

Nadine hat das geschafft.
Sie ist professionelle Business- und Lifestyle-Fotografin und Journalistin.

Sie hat mich so fotografiert, dass ich mich in mich selbst verlieben könnte…
Das Foto knistert beim Ansehen.

WIE schön ist das bitte formuliert!! Sowas kann nur ein Ausnahme-Texter.

Die zwei Fragen kannst du jetzt aber trotzdem noch lesen: Eine zur Zeit eher Typische: über KI. Und eine über (ja, das gibt es in meiner Welt noch) Stift und Papier.

Andreas, siehst du KI als Gefahr oder Chance für dich als Copywriter?

Für mich ist KI ein Gewinn, denn es ist eine mechanische Komponente, die mich dabei unterstützt, Ideen zu generieren. Ein Sparringpartner in meinen Denkprozessen. KI kann allerdings als Maschine ohne Emotionen einen guten Copywriter nicht ersetzen, denn das Zwischenmenschliche kommt nicht rüber. Das bleibt der Vorteil von uns Menschen: Die Storys der kleinen Dinge, die uns im Sozialen verbinden – da fließen Energien. KI bedeutet außerdem mehr Geschwindigkeit, ich kann Projekte schneller umsetzen.

Wie ist dein Workflow beim Texten? - Tippst du Texte direkt auf dem Laptop, oder machst du dir vielleicht erst handschriftlich Notizen? Wie gehst du da vor?

Das ist eine Mischung. Das meiste mache ich auf dem Laptop. Und ich verwende die Notiz-App auf meinem Iphone, das ja dann wiederum mit meinem Mac Book verbunden ist. Wenn ich einen spontanen Gedanken notieren möchte und weder Handy noch Laptop zur Hand habe, dann greife ich auf Papier zurück. Gute Ideen drucke ich gern aus und klebe sie an die Wand. So bleiben sie in Sichtweite. Entscheidend und auch Teil meines Workflows sind außerdem regelmäßige Spaziergänge an der Natur.
