In conversation with Rallie Vasic from Phaseline London

Here is Rallie and he likes music, singing, and concerts. We meet in the café of the National Portrait Gallery in the city, and it’s empty when we arrive – it has just opened.

Rallies company, Phaseliner, does home automation and really, if you think about it, this is very much related to music too.

Imagine your house or the place where you live as an orchestra of electrical devices as they are being switched on and off.

There’s the main light – ah, the reading light as you walk over to the sofa – the TV turns on – oh no, the oven is still on, let’s turn it off – but no, you don’t have to get up now that you have just gotten comfortable with a pillow behind your back. You can do that with an app on your phone.

This app is what Rallie creates for his clients: His home automation company, Phaseliner, orchestrates all sorts of electrical devices into one single app.

The café is flooded with the prettiest September sunlight. I wish I had an app to make the sunlight stay, but it moves fast, and the café fills up quickly. Talking about light…

“Lighting is usually the core of the app, and once the lights are connected, you can add other devices easily,” Rallie explains.

And now imagine: your office – a video conference will start in a few minutes – you go through your notes – no time for technical issues. But hey, don`t worry: with one button on your app, it all starts to come together like in the chorus of a song: the screen turns on – lights – audio – everything in a perfect symphony.

Rallie explains: “All devices sync in one hit. If the ‘handshake’ between the devices failed, the entire system would fail and would have to be rebooted. So, to program that, the right timing is key – these are milliseconds we’re talking about.” In the end, it’s all about being in tune.
